Prewedding Photography Across Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Wuzhen — A 5-Day Journey

/ prewedding

/ shanghai, wuzhen, hangzhou

Five days, three cities — a journey that felt more like traveling together than creating wedding photographs.

SHANGHAI — MODERN ARCHITECTURE, CINEMATIC STREETS,
AND A CITY THAT PHOTOGRAPHS BEAUTIFULLY

HANGZHOU — WEST LAKE, TREE-LINED ROADS,
AND A QUIETER SIDE OF CHINA

WUZHEN WATER TOWN — ANCIENT CANALS, STONE BRIDGES, AND TIMELESS ATMOSPHERE

Why Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Wuzhen work so wwell together for a prewedding trip

Rather than staying in one city, Linh and Dai spent five days moving through three completely different atmospheres — modern and cinematic in Shanghai, slow and poetic in Hangzhou, and quietly timeless in Wuzhen. For couples considering an overseas prewedding experience from Vietnam, Shanghai is also more accessible than most people expect.

The flight from Ho Chi Minh City takes around four hours, and from Shanghai, Hangzhou is only one hour away by high-speed train — making it easy to combine multiple destinations within a single trip.

Note on each city — what to expect for prewedding photography

Shanghai feels energetic and cinematic. The skyline, The Bund, and the contrast between modern architecture and older neighborhoods create a natural versatility — formal outfits read as editorial, casual styling blends into the streets just as easily. Best season is March to May when the city softens into spring.Hangzhou is the slowest of the three. West Lake, tree-lined boulevards, and traditional architecture create an atmosphere that feels almost cinematic in a quieter, more intimate way.

Couples naturally slow down here — which fits storytelling photography well.Wuzhen feels like stepping out of time entirely. Old wooden houses, narrow canals, stone bridges, and winding pathways give almost every corner a natural texture that needs very little direction to photograph beautifully. The boat ride through the canals at dusk is something we'd recommend to every couple visiting.

LINH & DAI'S ELOPEMENT WEDDING

Before wandering through the streets of Shanghai and the landscapes of Hangzhou, we had already spent a few days together along the coastline of southern Vietnam. From road trips through Mui Ne to quiet sessions at Azerai Ke Ga Bay, that journey became the foundation for many of the memories we would continue creating together.
